Ephesian 4:11-12 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ…”
According to The Bible, God has provided many “…gifts…” to be used in His kind of Churches. The first gift “…he gave…” (John 3:16), was The Lord Jesus. The Saviour, His Sacrifice, His Eternal Salvation, and The Scriptures, are truly the greatest “…gifts…”of all. We know the Blood of His Sacrifice paid “…for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” (I John 2:2) But The Blood Jesus shed not only paid for all sins; but with it He also “…purchased…” His Church.
“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” Acts 20:28
A Pastor is one of the “…gifts…” (Ephesians 4:8) given to each of those bloodbought assemblies. Any gift from God ought to be appreciated because of Who gave it. The members of each Independent, Fundamental, Baptist Church, ought know that their Pastor has been given to them as one of The Lord’s “…gifts…” Church Members need to understand more of what this gift actually is; why a Pastor has been given to them; and how they are commanded, by “…the chief Shepherd…,” to treat their earthly shepherd. And, a Pastor in training “…must…” know these things before he is ordained into the “…office…” of Pastor. (I Timothy 3:1-2)
